Welcome to the Construction Page

This page contains a list various construction projects that TTC has underway that I am following as well new ones as times goes one. The list is only for the ones I have seen to date and there more projects taking place.

Some projects will get more exposure than others based on my travel, the weather as will having the time to do it. During the winter months, I don't get around to various project like I wanted too due to the cold, lack of sunlight as well have a very short shooting time frame. Very little outside work takes place during this time also.

Some of these projects have been completed; some under way and others are in the planning stage. You will also notice various projects completed are also noted under plan as there is more work to be done at a later date for them. That is why I have used phases for some as that how it plan to be done or was done.

Projects will appear with no notice due to emergency work or unplan work to keep crews busy.

You need to check in from time to time to see what is new.

Having made a presentation before TTC commissioners a few years ago about removing all the ceiling slats, it nice to see the removable of the ceiling slates taking place today.

It is time consuming not only to take them down, but to put them back up. It's even harder to get them to match with the existing ones since they will be cover in dirt and grim from the subway train's break dust that gets trap above them even though they are tag.

At the same time, TTC has to find a place to store them without getting damage. TTC has not found a method to clean them to date and this has lead to the removable of the slats.

Its can takes months to get them reinstall after the work has been done leaving a gapping hole in the ceiling.

As these slates are remove, TTC will start to save money on both the capital and operation side since Labour eats up close to 80% of the budget. TTC will only have to do a simple pressure wash of the station and not worry about the break dust running down the wall or falling from the ceiling on the riders.

As TTC Up Dates the stations or requires the removable of a section for work, the slates will be removed 100%. One only has to go to the Museum Station to see how well the ceiling looks like after the removable of the slats.

If one visit St Andrew south end of the platform, you can see the new style as well the old style.
