This page will provide various information surround the subway stations for TTC.

Each of the stations below will have their own page with various Photo's pertaining to them as well other information as time goes along.

The first subway Line came into existent March 30, 1954 with the opening of the Yonge line running from Union Station on Front St to Eglinton Station at the s-w corner Eglinton Ave and Yonge St.

February 28, 1963 saw the opening of the University line running from Union Station to St George.

The next expansion was the building of the Bloor - Danforth line that open on February 26, 1966 between Keele to Woodbine. It was also the first time that every 2nd train travel to the city core by the Y and the University line. TTC abandon this practices after 6 months due to too many operation problems and never used the Y again until 2007.

The next phase was the building of Bloor line from Keele to Islington and the Danforth Line from Woodbine to Warden on May 11, 1968.

Yonge North from Eglinton to York Mills open March 31, 1973 follow by Yonge North from York Mills to Finch March 30, 1974.

The next phase was the Yonge North from York Mills to Finch March 30, 1974. No station was built for the current North York Center station nor was rough in at that time.

The Spadina line from St George to Wilson open on January 28, 1978. This extension was the results of the cancelling of the Spadina expressway that would ended up in the core of the city. It stops at Eglinton Ave now.

The Bloor line was extended from Islington to Kipling on November 22, 1980.

November 22, 1980 saw the Danforth line extended from Warden to Kennedy.

March 24, 1985 saw the opening of a new technology line call Scarborough RT (SRT) running from Kennedy to McCowan and remain an orphan line today. The line was first proposed as a streetcar line that was to branch out to other Scarborough, but never has to date.

North York Centre Station open on June 18, 1987

March 31, 1996 saw the Spadina line extended from Wilson to Downsview open.

November 24, 2002 saw the opening of a new line call Sheppard running from Sheppard-Yonge to Don Mills call the Mel Thing after the former mayor of North York that became part of Toronto as well being the Mayor of Toronto at the time.

Sometime in 2015, an extension to the Spadina Line running from Downsview to Vaughan Corp Centre servicing the University of York is schedule to open. It will be the first line to be built out of the 416 area into the 905 area. This was a Government decision line.

There is an EA underway for the extension of the Yonge line from Finch to Richmond Hill Centre in York Region. The EA is to be completed in 2009. Under Ontario Move2020 list, the government is picking up 2/3 of the full cost with the balance to come from the Federal government and there no sign they are prepared to pickup that 1/3 cost. At the same time, Metrolinx has to do a business case to see if this extension should go ahead as well if it will be a subway or an LRT and that schedule in 2009.

Bloor Danforth line: 26.2 miles with 31 stations carrying 495,280 riders daily
