This page will provide various information surround the subway stations for TTC.
Each of the stations below will have their own page with various Photo's pertaining to them as well other information as time goes along.
The first subway Line came into existent March 30, 1954 with the opening of the Yonge line running from Union Station on Front St to Eglinton Station at the s-w corner Eglinton Ave and Yonge St.
February 28, 1963 saw the opening of the University line running from Union Station to St George.
The Spadina line from St George to Wilson open on January 28, 1978. This extension was the results of the cancelling of the Spadina Expressway that would ended up in the core of the city. It stops at Eglinton Ave now and is now call the W.R. Allen Road after the chairmain William R. Allen for Metropoltan Toronto.
The subway runs up the centre of the Allen Rd from Eglinton Ave West to Yorkdale where it travels over the highway 401 to Wilson station.
A new yard was built just north of the Wilson Station under the flight runway for Downsview airport.
The Bloor line was extended from Islington to Kipling on November 22, 1980.
On August 11, 1995, TTC suffer their first fatality Subway accident when a southbound H5 train ran into the rear of another southbound train that was stop, killing 3 people and sending 30 to hospital. It was known as the Russell Hill Subway Incident. This accident took place between Dupont Station and St Clair West Station around signal SP77/X38 at the end of St Clair West Station. As of 2010, it is the worst subway accident in Canada. This accident was a combination of both Human Error and design flaws. The line was close for 3 days to clear the wreckage and do investigation.
March 31, 1996 saw the Spadina line extended from Wilson to Downsview open. the line was tunnel under the airport as well part of the Allen Rd to Sheppard Ave West where the Downsview station is located. A new bus terminal was built to support the bus routes preading out from this station.
Sometime in 2015, an extension to the Spadina Line running from Downsview to Vaughan Corp Centre servicing the University of York is schedule to open. It will be the first line to be built out of the 416 area into the 905 area. This was a political decision line. There is word now that this extension may not open until 2017 or later.
Two TBM (Tunnel Boring Machines) have been purchased and are schedule to go underground in 2012.
Distances between stations and ridership on each line. Ridership is from station unless noted. Daily Ridership is based on TTC information for the year 2009-2010. There is no total daily ridership for this section as TTC combines it with the University and Yonge line as one total. Total for the combine lines is
